Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: Going to Atlanta and seeing the city for the first time has been my favorite moment in BMW. It is a beautiful city that I plan on settling down in when I am older.

College/Future Plans: Attend trade school at the Building Institute enrolling in the plumbing program and starting my apprenticeship.

Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: My most memorable BMWA moment was the trip to Alabama. We visited Alabama State University, Dr. King Museum and crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge.  

What the BMWA has taught you: BMWA has taught me that there is nothing I cannot do, to believe in myself and put in the effort if you want to succeed.

College/Future Plans: Attend Tennessee State or Kentucky State University majoring in Agribusiness with a career goal of working for the USDA in the Food and Nutrition Service department.

Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: Experiencing my first college tour trip of an HBCU my 6th grade year.

What BMWA has taught you: Take advantage and recognize opportunities because they may be blessings in disguise.

Motto or Quote that you live by: “Whatever you may be walking into, God has already stepped into it and prepared a way for you.”

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: Coming to the Saturday sessions may seem pointless, but as you progress through the academy, especially your junior and senior years, you understand the time, resources, commitment, and years of service were worth it.

What BMWA has taught you: Brotherhood is a great bond and love that can’t be imitated.

What BMWA has taught you: BMW has taught me how to be a successful black man and how to face adversity and overcome those obstacles.

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: I encourage my brothers to stick with the program, and pay attention to the guests that come to share their journeys, successes, and wisdom with us. Also, encourage them to find a mentor.

Beau Darion Neal

College/Future Plans: I will attend Georgetown College where I will continue my football career and major in Communications with future aspirations of being a sportscaster.

Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: Meeting with the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. I enjoyed getting knowledge and wisdom from older men who were in my shoes at one point in time. I really enjoyed the 4 P’s: You are a product of the people you place in your presence.

What BMWA has taught you: BMWA has taught me the importance of brotherhood. It’s taught me to always look out for my brothers and to uplift others. It’s also taught me how to keep pushing in the face of adversity.

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: Even when you don’t feel like getting up on Saturday mornings to go to BMW, get up and go. You don’t see the good that it’s doing now, but you’ll see it in the future.

College/Future Plans: I would like to attend an out-of-state college such as UNC, UCLA, or NYU. I would also consider attending the University of Kentucky or the University of Louisville.

Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: My most memorable BMWA moment would be my trip to the Carolinas with the academy.  While on this trip we were able to visit several colleges like Duke and UNC which I would like to attend some day

What BMWA has taught you: BMWA taught me that it matters not where you start, but where and how you finish. I have been inspired by several guest speakers who started from a rocky beginning but overcame life challenges to achieve their goals and success.

Motto or Quote that you live by: “Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today”

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: Some wisdom for current and future BMWA scholars would be to make sure to always have a backup plan. Whether it’s a backup college, career, or something else. Put first things first and try to be prepared for what life may throw at you.

Motto or Quote that you live by: Never compare yourself to others; only compare yourself to you. Reach for the stars and always strive for greatness in everything that you do. 

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: I would tell them, if at first, you don’t succeed, figure out why and reattempt.  I would tell them to take full advantage of all the knowledge and opportunities available to them while in BMWA.

Your most Memorable BMWA Moment: Getting in trouble with Mrs. Akins for being too loud in the hotel room while on the Nashville trip in 6th grade. 

What BMWA has taught you: Other than waking up early on Saturday mornings, BMWA has taught me how to put in work outside of school. I’ve learned that the work doesn’t stop and to keep pushing myself to greatness even when the workload seems light. 

Motto or Quote that you live by: “Stop waiting for the bus, and start walking now” 

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: Get out of your comfort zone and do as many activities or hobbies as possible to get exposure to your interest and your inner network. And remember. Grind now, shine later!

I’ve learned that you should always make good connections and make good first impressions with people. I have also learned that you should always present yourself as well as you can.

Wisdom you’d share with current and future BMWA scholars: Don’t fool around. It might make you look good in front of your friends, but will almost certainly ruin future opportunities. Always present yourself as well as you can.
