Since 2005, the Black Male Working Academy (BMWA) has transformed the lives of over 1,000 Black boys in grades K–12 by providing mentorship, academic support, cultural exploration, and college readiness. We prepare young men to lead, achieve, and thrive.
At the Black Male Working Academy, we believe every young man deserves the tools, guidance, and opportunities to thrive. Our programming is intentionally designed to meet boys where they are and walk with them every step of the journey—from kindergarten to college and beyond.
From the moment a scholar enters BMWA, he is embraced by a brotherhood that challenges him to excel academically and grow personally. Our Saturday sessions provide mentoring, character development, and leadership opportunities tailored to each age group. By nurturing discipline and self-confidence early, we lay the foundation for lifelong success.
As students progress through middle and high school, our focus shifts to preparing them for the transition into higher education. We provide ACT prep, college tours, application assistance, and scholarship guidance to ensure every young man sees college as both attainable and affordable.
This originative program is designed to bridge the educational & professional performance gap prevalent among young men of color. Through innovative workforce development curriculum, VR technology, career simulations & mentorship from leading voices in our community, the initiative seeks to empower young men for successful careers in a 21st-century workforce.
Education extends beyond the classroom. BMWA offers cultural exploration, international travel, career exposure, and hands-on learning experiences that broaden our students’ horizons. Whether it’s bargaining in Cairo’s markets, touring an HBCU, or engaging with community leaders, these enrichment opportunities ignite curiosity and inspire ambition.
